tangent tuesdays: my youngest

today is my baby’s second birthday.  i remember that day clearly… i went to my regularly scheduled doctor visit and at to everyone’s surprise, it turned out i was going to deliver sooner than later.  the doctor told me to tie up loose ends at home and head to labor and delivery.  i remember leaving the doctor’s office stunned.  i called up my husband and told him we were having a baby, but to first come home as quickly as he could to help me package my orders and drop them to the post office {i know, crazy.  it was probably all the hormones making me a little nutty.}  she was so tiny, born at only 4lbs and 3 ounces.  now, 2 years later, she has a full mouth of teeth, running fast, and doesn’t stop talking!  i am so blessed that i have the opportunity to run my business from home while raising my children– it’s a difficult feat, but incredibly rewarding.  happiest 2nd birthday to my baby girl!

tangent tuesdays: i’m back!

hello blog friends!  “where have you been”, you ask?  on vacation and it was fantastic!  i’m not one to get really personal on my blog, but here’s a little sneak peek into my family’s 14 day vacation…

the first half of the vacation, we {my entire family- my folks, my siblings and their families, my younger brother, and my family- 18 of us in all!} were on the m.s. eurodam of holland america.

{all of these photos were taken with my iphone.  that iphone, it’s pretty incredible.}

we had 4 ports.  grand turk, turks and caicos…

san juan, puerto rico…

st. thomas, virgin islands…

conch fritters, yum!

and half moon cay, bahamas…

in between our ports of paradise, we stuffed our faces with food.  we ate like this every. single. day.  yum…

i’ve sailed on royal caribbean and princess cruise lines and in my opinion, the food on the holland america line was out. of. this. world {i’m not even going to talk about their top notch customer service}!  can you imagine dining like that every single day?  goodness.
after the cruise was over, my family and my sister’s family did the whole disney thing.  we went to magic kingdom {let’s keep it real, jessie looks a little scary here}…

and animal kingdom…
and there you have it.  it was nice not having to check email or package orders, but now i’m back and fully submerged in wedding season, orders, and custom projects.  i have some new stuff to show you that i am sure you will love {including an awesome video that i’m posting tomorrow}… stay tuned!

show and tell tuesdays: my two typewriters

did you notice the new title of this post? on tuesdays, {when i post on tuesdays} it’s normally “tangent tuesdays”… i’ve decided to change it up a bit and alternate from “tangent tuesdsays” and “show and tell tuesdays”… on show and tell tuesdays, i’ll give you a little peak into my workspace and showcase letterpress paraphernalia and other random things laying around that may be of interest.

my earliest typing lessons were on my parent’s typewriter from the 70′s.  i’ve always been obsessed with the little gadget and growing up would throw hints and outright requests to have it passed down to me when they didn’t want it anymore.  a few years ago, my parents finally let it go!

a few weeks ago i dragged my friend melanie with me to an antique market to hunt for some good finds {if you read my last post, i also dragged that same friend melanie with me to california.. she’s such a good friend!}.  look what i found… and at an awesome, rock bottom price!
isn’t she a beauty!!  she’s still dirty and is still sitting on the floor, but once she gets cleaned up and when the occasion presents itself, she’ll be used as a prop for product shots.  eye candy and useful… can’t get better than that!

tangent tuesdays: animal visitors

this is really random.  a few weeks ago, i saw a big fat bunny in my vegetable garden {warning: horrible camera phone pictures}

yes… there is a garden underneath all of those weeds… that’s what happens when you go on vacation for 10 days during torrential rain storms.  the picture on the left is the bunny {she doesn’t look so fat here… but her belly was big} and the picture on the right is the bunny trying to make a quick escape after she hears me banging on the window like a maniac.
the weekend came and i spent hours pulling at the weeds.  tired and dripping sweat, i reached for a pile of twigs and was stopped in my tracks.  i screamed to my husband that there was a family of field mice in my garden.  after closer inspection, we realized it was baby bunnies.  the darn fat rabbit had her babies in my garden!  {yes, i know… there are plenty more weeds that i still need to pick.  can you see the baby bunnies though?  look closely}
the bunnies were so small, with their eyes still closed and their ears tucked back.  they’ve left their home in my garden and they are big now.. i see them running around the yard.  here are three of them… can you find them?

{that’s right… i know… i have weeds to pick outside the garden bed too}

just yesterday though… my kids were playing on their playset when my son started screaming bloody murder that there was something in their playset… so i come running like a nut, thinking they’ve found a mouse or snake or something… but no.  tucked at the base of their playset… MORE BABY BUNNIES.. seriously?!  our backyard is no longer ours.
the bunnies should stay away if they know what’s good for them.  my husband spotted a hawk perched on our gutter…
after all those weeds were picked… look at that… the first harvest of the season… yellow & red grape and roma tomatoes and a pepper too!  back to letterpress related news tomorrow… promise.
