workday wednesdays: big things
“do one thing and do it well,” she said {she being stacy of name your design, le papier design, and le papier boutique}. if there was one thing i took from my little meet up yesterday with the “dot com queens” {that’s the name i’ve given to the local online ladies that have been meeting regularly to talk “shop” and i have been so lucky to be invited!}, it would be that- to do one thing and do it well. of course i’ve heard it said many a time, but it resonates more when it’s said aloud from a woman that was a full time teacher only 6 years ago to an owner of 3 creative businesses! aside from the two regulars, stacy and sara from sarah+abraham, i also met dacia of lima bean kids and megan of silhouette blue for the the first time. it is so interesting listening to these super successful women… to hear how they balance work and kids and keeping house to marketing themselves, keeping up with their competition, to handling customers… the list goes on. this was my second meet up with this group of ladies and like the first time, i left driving home with a head swollen with ideas and a long running to-do list. it’s great chatting with these women… how many other women do you know that would sit around late morning and talk about search engine optimization and meta tags?
on another note, have you started a small business in the past year and want a free website? there’s a great giveaway going on until this sunday over at oh my handmade goodness… go check it out {but i hope i win!}
today’s post isn’t too off tangent… do you craft or have a crafty business or just like to organize? the crafty storage blog has great craft storage and organization ideas from real crafters. i often draw organization inspiration from this blog… if you are trying to organize or re-organize your crafty stuff then take a look at how other crafters organize their creative spaces and click here. get your spring cleaning on!
last saturday the family and i drove to the platen press museum in zion, il again for a fun filled morning of shopping {letterpress shopping that is} at mr. paul aken’s annual type sale. my husband is thankful that i only came home with this
